The 9th Annual 26.2 with DONNA to partner with First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP). The FCNMHP Thrift Store will be the beneficiary from the thousands of discarded clothing that runners/walkers will take off along the marathon course.
“The FCNMHP Thrift Store is one way to help raise funds to save the lives of pets. We were truly thrilled to be chosen, out of all the wonderful thrift stores in the area. Funds raised from the clothing, delivered after the race, will be such a blessing. We just launched an on-line store, so more valuable items will be placed here,†said Jan Kirkpatrick, FCNMHP Thrift Store Manager.
“We runners almost always wrap ourselves in layers and then peel as we go. It’s so nice to be able to help another community non-profit by donating all of the clothes our runners leave behind. As an animal lover, I have a special affection for the work First Coast No More Homeless Pets does. It’s just a win-win for all of us”, said Donna Deegan, founder of 26.2 with DONNA.
“I was thrilled to find out the clothes I discard throughout the race goes to a great cause. To support breast cancer research and people and pets, is a great combination,“ said Dr. Justin Spooner, Jacksonville Pain Relief Center.
